Damian "Ghost" Smółka

Welcome. In this article I would like to present the equipment I recently had the pleasure to commit - Soldano SLO-100. This is my fourth vacuum tube project I have done so far. I think it's the best hardware I build with my soldering iron.

Stereo tube amplifier producedCary Audio Design company. This is not only an US amplifier, but unlike many of such products is not assembled in China, but in the United States of America. A real shock.

Interesting tube monoblocks combine a rational approach from the technical point of view with some audiophile's "bells and whistles". The amplifier (produced by American company Cary Audio Design) that came to my hands probably comes from the early stages of production. I do not know when the first copies appeared - probably around 1994, because at that time Stereophile magazine (01/1994) published a detailed review and measurement results.

I present photographic documentation of tube amplifier Burdjak Area-41. This is a stereo amplifier based on 6S41S (6C41C) triodes working in non-symmetric configuration (SE). The 6S41S power tubes are relatively rare in commercial applications. The situation is different in DIY amplifiers where 6S41S triodes, being anemic cousins of more powerfull 6S33S tubes are often used. The Burdjak Area-41 amplifier provides a really enjoyable listening experience - it is of course only my subjective opinion.

The amplifier belongs to the group of devices produced in such a small number of copies that it's creator is hardly called a manufacturer. The amplifier does not have any notes or signs and to find information about the person who built it is almost impossible. It turns out that it is the product of (a term a bit exaggerated) manufacturer named ARG. The ARG "company" it is probably one person, Mr. Eugene Kremiński from Lviv. I have not found any corporate website or the official list of ARG products. The only source of information are online "notes" of a few users, or friends of the amplifier's builder. I decided to put the amplifier in the gallery because of its quite unique schematic configuration. It is a circlotron .

BAT VK-150S is a powerful tube monoblock offering considerable output power of 150W/4Ω. Let no one be fooled by the "SE" symbol in the amplifier name. It is not Single Ended circuit configuration but only a special version of the device (Special Edition). Unfortunately, I do not know the details that distinguish ordinary amplifier versions of the SE version. Based on expert mentions in the press, the details are very important but supposedly secret .

Although the Ayon Orion tube amplifier is already presented in the TRIODA Web Gallery, but because of the fact that I had the opportunity to see the interior of the same amplifier, but of very different interior, I decided to share a set of photos with other details of this interesting device.

In my private beauty contest of tube amplifiers that have come into my hands, for years the first place take tube amplifiers produced by Radford (especially the STA-25). Amplifiers with lower ratings are separated from Radford by greatl gap. That was until my personal encounter with Classic 60 amplifier, produced by Audio Research. Although compared to "Radford", "Quad" and other old tube amplifiers it is a real lad (construction was established in 1989), its appearance aroused in me a shiver of excitement. No doubt - second place in the ranking .

"Cool" tube amplifier and rather unusual for our modern times mechanical design - everything including the charming glowing tubes is carefully hidden inside the black housing. Because there are a lot of photos of the amplifier in closed housing, I decided perversely to use as the main photo dismantled and un-retouched amplifier (dust covering elements is authentic).
