In my private beauty contest of tube amplifiers that have come into my hands, for years the first place take tube amplifiers produced by Radford (especially the STA-25). Amplifiers with lower ratings are separated from Radford by greatl gap. That was until my personal encounter with Classic 60 amplifier, produced by Audio Research. Although compared to "Radford", "Quad" and other old tube amplifiers it is a real lad (construction was established in 1989), its appearance aroused in me a shiver of excitement. No doubt - second place in the ranking .

"Cool" tube amplifier and rather unusual for our modern times mechanical design - everything including the charming glowing tubes is carefully hidden inside the black housing. Because there are a lot of photos of the amplifier in closed housing, I decided perversely to use as the main photo dismantled and un-retouched amplifier (dust covering elements is authentic).

In 1963, the State Teletransmission Company in Warsaw started the production of amplifiers marked as WR40/62 (Ampli 40) and WR75/62 (Ampli 75). Very similar to much earlier model WR40 in fact they were improved and completely redesigned acoustic devices. Like their predecessor, amplifiers were intended to create a small broadcasting networks and to use in schools, small factories, large sacred halls, sports stadiums, train stations and events held in the open air.

The amplifier, which I would like to present was produced in 1962 in Warsaw, Poland. The physical evidence can be seen below in a form of the metal plate riveted to the housing.

The Audio Innovations 500 is a 25 watt Class A tube integrated amplifier. As the name suggests, it was manufactured by Audio Innovations, Brighton, UK. Audio Innovations was founded by Peter Qvortrup and Erik Andersson in 1984. The company produced tube amplifiers from 1984 to 1996. In 1991 Audio Innovations was bought by Audio Components and in 1996 Audio Partnership bought the brand. Series 500 amplifiers originated in the late 80-ies of the last century - at the beginning of the operationon of Audio Innovations in the market.

General view of the amplifier is shown in Fig. 1

For some time I had the intention to build an amplifier based on the famous "devil" tube 6S33S (6C33C). I heard about this tube a lot of contradictory opinions. The fundamental flaw mentioned, is the time instability of it's parameters.  Unstable anode current during operation of 6S33S tube is a constant theme in almost every discussion board dedicated to electron tubes. With all its disadvantages 6S33S tube is mysteriously attracted for audio designers. Why? I do not know. Probably anyone who used this tube had their own reasons. As for me there are also several important reasons. I will mention one - it looks very cool, and these "devil's horns" - amazing!!!

This description relates to a headphone amplifier based on a very popular White Follower scheme. There are plenty of amplifiers of this type you can find in electronic books and Internet. Among the most popular there may be mentioned circuits described on HeadWize site dedicated to headphone amplifiers. The description is not completed yet. I left it unfinished deliberately, as a place to conclusions accompanying this here THREAD on TRIODA Forum. Because of this, description is a bit chaotic, and I apologize for that all visitors. Ultimately these shortcomings will be removed.

With a little help of Allegro (online auction site) I became the owner of the 100BIS PS1 tube device. Although I bought it outside the auction but Allegro was unwittingly involved in the transaction. The manufacturer of the device apparently did not attach importance to such a "trifle" as the device name. According to the inscription on the front panel and content of the Instruction Manual I bought a "control panel", and according to the rating plate information and leaflet I bought a "control console". So let me use the following description of the term -"tube mixer".

Low Frequency OTL Amplifier
L. Kononowicz, Candidate of technical sciences (translation A. W.),

Radioamator 1959/11

In recent years, both works in the Soviet Union and abroad have been carried out on the construction of devices (including audio amplifiers) providing amplification and reproduction of sound with little distortion. In the initial stages of low frequency amplifiers, due to the low signal voltages occurring there - non-linear distortions are small, and frequency distortions can be lowered by choosing the appropriate values of the amplifier elements. The largest distortions arise in the output stage of the amplifier, the main cause being usually the output transformer. The output transformer limits the range of the frequencies to be reproduced.

Renat Terlecki, "DC Powered Power Amplifier RA360ST"
Antena 11/1934

In recent times, radio engineering has gained a completely new field of activity in the form of high-power loudspeaker installations. Apart from the sound films of high-power loudspeakers, we also often meet in a whole range of public institutions such as railway stations, guest houses, hotels, sports grounds, concert halls, and even churches and parliaments.
A few years of practice has crystallized the concept of a modern power amplifier and today we require such a device:
